What I'm loving Wednesday

Hello all! Hope your week is going wonderfully. I woke up this morning CONVINCED it was thursday... nope it is def Wednesday.. ah well- here are a few things i'm diggin this week:

PODCASTS:
At work i am on the computer all day searching the resume world. Well one day i randomly had the idea to check out the podcast world- the phrase "Where have you been all my life?!" comes to mind. I am now consider myself a podcast junkie...i don't know if it's cool to be into podcasts these days (i feel like they were big back in the day) and i somehow totally missed the bandwagon- Well i'm on it now!

Here are some podcast's i am LOVING

#1 would def have to be NPR's Wait wait don't tell me... HILARIOUS!!!
It's an hour long news quiz and seeing as i have been trying to be more informed about the world these days its encouraging to find myself knowing a lot of the answers to the questions asked. Plus did i mention it is HILARIOUS- you wouldn't really think it but i have to stifle laughter in the office... for those- i am at my desk but i really need to stay awake- days check out this podcast!

#2 THE MOTH

This podcast is, basically, people's stories. But it is story telling at its finest. I have found myself laughing and holding back tears at the different narratives. The last one i heard (the tears one) Was about a stand up comedian whose little girl was dying of cancer... it may seem a bit morbid but it was ironic and real and tender. Def worth the listen.

#3 THIS AMERICAN LIFE

It Kind of runs like a news story. But the stories are always interesting. They gave one story based on the book THE GOOD SOLDIERS about post war lives of soldiers. I could def relate to it with a brother who came back from a tour in Iraq about 2 years ago. The stories seem to be about controversial topics... which to me is interesting and at times enlightening.

#4 (but most listened to) HOW STUFF WORKS

This is a just an interesting podcast that tells you about, well, how stuff works. From brainwashing to how cults work to Freemason's its just interesting facts on stuff you always wanted to know about... or at least that i want to know about...

and last but certainly not least:
#5 NPR's CULTURETOPIA but specifically the "pop culture happy hour" (there are different episodes(?) throughout the week

This is just easy listening pertaining to all things pop culture/ random topics the
hosts want to talk about. Entertaining in a "i'm smarter than you" type way. (Lets just face it, that's how a lot of NPR things are... and i like it!)

it started out by listening to one podcast... and then slowly but steadily my podcast love grew from one podcast to... well 5... I've tried to branch out to others but these are the one's that i keep coming back to... if you haven't heard any of these take some time this week to enjoy... there's a whole other world out there!

and finally i have to give a shout out to my sweet husband. As i stated in my last post- It's been a hard month but he's been such a trooper and so sweet to me during everything.

If it's any contribution I like him a WHOLE lot more than i like podcasts....

"Beware the ides of march" William Shakespeare Julius Caesar

Hey guys! Sorry that i have been so incognito for the majority of March! Life has gone by fast and crazily, if i may add. To write about it would take more time that i'd like/ possibly sound like a whine-fest so i refuse but lets just say the month of March has been a hard one....
I've been going through the Matt Chandler sermon series on Ecclesiastes and they have been so sweet in the midst of everything. Really helping me with some big picture stuff and just being excited about the small joys in life. I recommend them greatly! Plus Matt Chandler is HILARIOUS. I am now listening to a sermon series on Apathy from another pastor at Matt Chandler's church and it def is food for the soul. (Just being real here) Anyways it's times like these when i can't help but think of this quote (by none other than Donald Miller) that sums it up beautifully:

"Sooner or later you figure out life is constructed specifically and brilliantly to squeeze a man into association with the Owner of heaven. It is a struggle, with labor pains and thorny landscape, bloody hands and a sweaty brow, head in hands, moments of severe loneliness and questioning, moments of ache and desire. OMG I think i might just DIE.... and the culprits are:





Don't let the innocent looking child on the box fool you... she knows what she is doing... she is exploiting my weakness in order to earn..what? an extra badge on her vest?!
Ok ok i'm sure the girl scouts use the proceeds from thier cookies to promote something akin to womens right or awesome camping trips- which i am thankful to give to....but i'm not sure my hips will be thanking those little girls anytime soon...

As i stated in my last post my husband (being from another country) had never heard of girl scout cookies...my husband, forgetting that I, myself ordered 5 boxes from a co-workers daughter, comes back from Huey's with a surprise... actually 4 boxes of surprises...the little girls clad in uniforms were "innocently" selling in front of the restaurant and tez couldn't resist he HAD to try the cookies i was telling him about.

I must admit, I LOVE experiencing things vicariously through people- going so far as wanting to watch a movie (that i have already seen) with a friend or my parents or whoever i think will enjoy the movie just to see if they like it like i think they will... which leads to me renting the movie for them and creepily spending the whole movie pretty much watching how that person reacts to the movie more than actually watching the movie itself...

So i admit the glee i had in opening the small (but deadly) box of cookies. Seeing Tezar embellish in his first Thin Mint and tell me that I was right about them WAS worth it.... UNTIL we practically consumed all 4 boxes within that one hour....

ok...i kidd... but the truth is I'm not sure the boxes made it through the week... upon the consumption of those four boxes i get a text saying that the 5 boxes i had previously ordered were ready for pickup....

heaven help us all....
