1)The chronicles of Narnia put on by my church when i was in 2nd grade- i don't know if it was the age i was at or what but I STILL remember scenes
2)The university of Memphis' rendition of Twelfth Night - won some major awards
3)KA (in Vegas)by Cirque du Soleil
I feel like since seeing those shows i have always chased that feeling in plays- its hard to explain- when you walk out knowing you witnessed something beautiful...
Wednesday April 27th the Desoto Civic Center will be housing a performance by none other than Cirque Du Soleil!
I don't know if you have ever heard of them (i really hadn't before last year). But LET ME TELL YOU, last year for our Honeymoon Tez and i decided- what the hey let's just go to Vegas (it was December and we wanted to do something spontaneous and seeing as Tez couldn't leave the country due to residency stuff - another story for another time- we decided Vegas it was)
The first night Tez and i saw the Phantom of the Opera

it was so sweet we got OK tickets but then when we got there the aisle attendant said. Hey would you guys like an upgrade? Of course we said yes and lo an behold we were fourth row from the orchestra- AWESOME!
-It was a romantic great first show
The second show we saw was the Blue Man Group:

-If it's any reference about how fun it was just check out the lady in the background of our picture- no idea who she is but she apparently LOVED IT.
Plus the "Blue Men" stuck around to take pictures with us afterwards- how sweet.
The last and final show we saw was Cirqu Du Soleil's KA:

PHENOMENAL! Tez and i both agreed that we were SO HAPPY that KA was the last show we saw rather than the first b/c then the bar would have been set so high we couldn't really enjoy phantom or Blue man. I can't even begin to describe how awesome the show was. The characters, the music, the dancing, the rotating platform that would move up and down WHILE the performers were on it, the contortionist, I MEAN it was ALL so BREATHTAKING. We LITERALLY contemplated buying tickets to see it again the next night! If you are EVER in Vegas this is a MUST SEE!
I told myself if Cirqu Dy Soleil ever came to Memphis I would be all up on that!
Needless to say when i found out that Cirqu du soleil is coming to the Desoto Civic Center i called my family and we all got tickets! So in two weeks i will be seeing Allegria and i hope that my sis and mom and dad will be able to experience Cirque Du Soleil in all its glory like Tez and i did.
Here's a little glimpse into what we'll be seeing
Tickets are still left.
I don't want to put unattainable expectations on Allegria but i feel like since experiencing the aforementioned plays, whether i talk about it or not, the desire to recapture that feeling in any play i see is there... I'm sure i can get all philisophical about WHY the desire for wonder is there... but that is for another post.
until then.. here's to the excitement of seeing the performance and to hoping that it will be...wonder-full.... (you know i can't resist a good pun)
