So Monday night rolls around and the steak we put out to marinate earlier that AM had not yet defrosted by dinnertime. Upon deciding to set it aside and let it marinate until the next day I decide to whip up a vegetarian friendly meal.
Don’t get me wrong, I am no vegetarian, nor do I feel I will ever be (had the chicken fingers at O Charley’s over the weekend and HOT MOMMA I forgot how awesome they are!) but, with that said, I DO feel like we should (as a household) cut back on some of our meat consumption.
I say this to a man who, when asked what he wants for dinner will respond – weekly- “You know I could always go for a good steak!”
Anyways, so I told Tez my idea a while back (meat twice a week fish another night or two and 3 vegetarian meals) he agreed…. Or so I thought…
You see, there was this one time where I made bean burrito’s and the day before had made some frozen some meatballs for future references (lately I’ve been into freezing meals- it’s awesome!)
Upon making the burrito’s Tez asked “What, no meat?”
“Well,” I respond, “the beans take place of the meat.”
“Oh,” he says, pensively, “ Hey, do you still have those meatballs?”
“Yes….why?”
“I’ll just cook some of those and cut them up into the burrito”
“You’ll what?!”
“Well, it’s beef, right?”
Sigh….one time occurrence? I thought so
UNTIL:
Monday, that steakless Monday, I prepared a wonderful (vegetarian) pasta dish with mushrooms Tez, once again looks at the food on his plate and says: “Oh, no meat?” (Let me paint a visual: His face is the face of a boy who was told he was going to get his favorite chocolate cake for dessert only to find out there is no more and all that is left is banana pudding)
“No, thought we could go vegetarian tonight!” I responded.
He thinks for a second and then asks “Hey, do we still have those hot dogs?”
And he then proceeds to cook up a hotdog cut it up and put it into the “vegetarian” spaghetti….
Oh that husband of mine....

Ya'll are so stinkin cute :)
