Sum- Sum- Summatime

HOLY COW can you believe that is, in fact June 1st?! (I think that 94% of my blog post's start out with the date and me not believing them) TIME FLIES

Been thinking a lot about summer lately... reminiscing the good ole days of summer break.... I mean wasn't it so awesome as a child having that break to look forward to?
It was almost as if everything around me waited in anticipation for that last day of school/first day of summer when you put down your backpack and didn't have to pick it back up until August. The signs were everywhere... walking to the bus stop in the morning and it not being so dark outside or cold anymore. At school everyone was signing yearbooks teachers were starting to box things up, your mom would take down your summer clothes... as i got older it always seemed like exam times would give you an extra shot of adrenaline (that or staying up at Perkins, Republic, Starbucks [insert coffee venue] until the wee hours of the morning- keeping the actual coffee shots coming) and, hopefully being rewarded by being done with the classes of the semester and never having to take them again....

This time of year, as a working girl, i don't get a summer break. But i still do enjoy the signs of summer! Here are some things that signal it for me:

*Mom doesn't take down the summer clothes. But i do! This is usually followed by a freakout- HOW DID I SURVIVE WITH THIS WARDROBE LAST YEAR?! I need some tops!
-or the -DO THESE PANTS LOOK TOO TIGHT ON ME? I could have sworn they weren't this tight last year...maybe it's b/c i put them in the dryer and they need to stretch...
which then leads to two other summer activities for me:

*1) starting to run...I have successful been running for three weeks... but i hear you don't really loose weight until you cut back on your cupcake consumption...DARN YOU MUDDY'S!

*2)Buying new clothes...preferably dresses/ skirts that give an allusion of a flat stomach...But then again that is one of my fav things about summer as well Tank tops, flowey dresses/skirts, and flip flops!
(Tezar has literally had to TEAR me away from Targets $25.00 dresses and remind me that 25 times 4 is still $100.00... "I don't care how cheap that cute dress is!")

*Then when you buy one (or four) cute target dresses you can wear them to any of my other fav summer activities:

*COOKOUTS- nothing like some grilled asparagus... meat... wine...and the laughter of friends.

*A movie at the Orpheum (summer blockbuster series) We usually take a friend couple and do a dinner/ movie double date- super fun!

*And if you are in the mood for something less classy there are always SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES at your local theater... I don't know why but this time of year more than i need romance flicks i need THINGS TO BLOW UP, CARS TO SPEED, it's even better when it's 3D... So far we have seen Fast 5 and Thor- and they have been satisfying in the most summerish way... this weekend on the menu is X Men, to follow will be CAPTAIN AMERICA, GREEN LANTERN, TRANSFORMERS, and do i even need to remind you about HARRY FREAKEN POTTER!!!!

*Which brings me to my next point.. to have some form of summer sanity there is always that summer vacation... It is a proven fact that having a vacation to look forward to relieves stress. This year we are venturing to a land that will make grown women squeal like little girls (ok i'm talking about me here)
HARRY POTTER LAND AT UNIVERSAL!!!! Tezar just may consider annulling the marriage when i cry tears of joy upon entering the beautifully reconstructed Diagon Ally... Consider it my mecca...

*Finally, due to my parents recent purchase of A POOL (WOOT) i do plan on laying out very diva like while reading my fav magazines (Entertainment Weekly and Real Simple) not to mention the SUMMER READING BOOKS on my list (more on that in another post)
while listening to, ok, i'll admit it, country music (another summer angst i get... i just have to hear some rascal flatts, Joe Dee Messina, Dixie Chicks, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson... you name it... i wouldn't really call myself a country music lover but when the summer rolls in i can't get enough of it... Tezar has recently been contemplating who he has married b/c i've been blaring it so often!)

So friend... here's to getting tan, trying to get "back in shape" to look presentable in a bathing suit... and all other signs that tell you the summer is here... Oh yes...and temperatures so unbearable you wonder why you even bothered to fix your hair...
